ABOUT
Established in 1993 Medeggs has been supplying eggs produced by hybrid chicken breeding stock from their family run farm in Norfolk. The hens produce fertile white and brown eggs suitable for medical research.
The eggs are supplied to Universities, medical research establishments and animal health institutes, throughout the UK.
The welfare of the hens is paramount to the business. All the birds are managed and monitored to DEFRA’s Poultry Health scheme standards, which means all disease control programmes are up to the latest UK regulations.

FARMING
All the birds are housed in barns where they can roam. There are wood shavings on the floor and the hens have constant access to fresh feed and water. They lay the eggs in nest boxes and roost on slats at night.
The eggs are collected by hand three times a day. All hens have a comprehensive vaccination programme during the rearing period, and are regularly checked for salmonella by DERRA and a registered veterinary practice.
All our poultry feed comes from national compounders and is organic acid or heat treated as a further safeguard.
